Big day for the Nicholls contingent?

On his way to Aintree this afternoon, Paul Nicholls must be wondering how good his Triumph winner, Zarkander will prove to be? After Unaccompanied's listed win at the Curragh on Sunday, this one must be rated highly and is very difficult to oppose here. Even at this stage he is the obvious pretender to Hurricane Fly's crown.

Similar considerations must also apply to Big Bucks and the pair should give the champion trainer a super start to the meeting. Next up is Denman (following a valiant effort in the Gold Cup) and although he is rated almost 20lbs superior to the opposition, this track is not entirely suited to his strengths. The remaining Ditcheat contenders also have valid claims including Royal Charm, Woolcombe Folly and Sire Collonges. Could be quite a day for the master trainer and jockey!!

However from a punting view, there is little value to be had throughout and may keep one's powder dry with the ensuing days in mind (although could be tempted by Sports Line at a decent price -20s).

enjoy.....
