A rather uninspiring look to the field in today's Racing Post Chase at Kempton Park (3.00pm). Strangely, it almost seemed that the experts on RPTV were struggling to summon up the requisite enthusiasm. While it's not my normal approach to Saturday Handicaps, I reckon market leader Fistral Beach with AP on top has a good chance to land the spoils and currently offers value at 5/1. An early faller last year when favourite, he looked a much better horse on his seasonal return at Wincanton. Paul Nicholls has been more sparing this term, in targeting his ammunition and I expect Fistral Beach to be primed for this. Unusually for such long standing handicap, it's difficult to identify an outside bet, as many of the likely sorts have doubts over their stamina. However last year's victor Razor Royale looks tempting at 14s, if one could be reasonably sure he has recovered from his exertions.
Elsewhere on the card, one to keep an eye on is Toubab, who is better than his position in the ante post markets suggest. Also of interest and a possible avenue of escape from the "election" are the now traditional pre- Cheltenham gallops after racing at Leopardstown on Sunday. You never know but we spy another Missed That.
good luck and enjoy...
