Aintree 2010 Day 1

Plenty of Cheltenham Festival winners return to action today at Aintree. Gold Cup victor Imperial Commander runs in the Bowl, a race where surprise results often occur. However he should collect, despite doubts about him being at his best when turning out so soon.

Big Bucks, kicks off events and is very hard to oppose, although Bouggler could run a big race on a track that suits. The 4yo Hurdle looks much more competitive and it will interesting to see if the impressive Sanctuaire maintains his winning run.

Somersby in the novice chase, another interesting contender, will have his work cut out in a decent field (The Nightingale, in particular worth monitoring). However if he is to realise his potential, he should be winning this contest. Four short priced favourites won't swell the coffers and after a look at the handicaps, reckon it's best to keep punting powder dry for another day.

enjoy....
