Big Day for Nicky's Charges

A veritable feast of jumps action today!!! Nicky Henderson runs 6 of his potential NH stars, including You're the Top, Dave's Dream, Binocular, Mad Max, According and Punchestowns putting their Cheltenham credentials to the test. All six have ability and in keeping with weekend theme, it will be fascinating to see how they fare particularly with the Festival only less than 40 days away. Two others to keep an eye on are Weird Al (Wetherby) and Captain Cee Bee (Naas).

The main competitive race is at Doncaster, the 2m Blue Square Handicap. Free World is a very capable horse who has been in my notebook since a change of tactics last time (after a string of frustrating performances). He looks ideally suited to 2 miles at Doncaster, but it will difficult to give weight away in a tight field. However a strongly run race may be bring out the best in him and with Ruby on board, is definitely worth an interest (currently too short but expect him to go off at fair price). I liked Sir Harry Ormesher last week in a handicap hurdle at Donny and see no reason to desert him albeit not being as well treated. Three hot handicaps end the card at Sandown and Merrydown might be worth a look in the hurdle.

Great news that AP is going to be on Denman. Looking forward to seeing him ride at Leopardstown tomorrow where three Grade Ones really whet the appetite for March. In particular, the hot Novice Chase where AP might extract a bit more out of Aranleigh although the going will be the deciding factor. However the highlight will be Dunguib's reappearance on his next rung up the ladder. Hopefully the rain will desist and Philip Fenton lets him run. The Hennessy is the feature race and it will be interesting to see if Cooldine has recovered. The market suggests he is in fine fettle but a difficult task awaits.

good luck and enjoy......
