Lexus at Leopardstown

Looking forward to heading to Leopardstown for this year's renewal of the Lexus Chase. Unusually open this year, it gives second tier chasers an opportunity to test their credentials. What a Friend and Voy per Ustedes travel over but the relatively strong home crew should foil their raid. Joncol impressed at Punchestown but may lack the necessary agility for this. Notre Pere has shown little form this season and would prefer heavier going. That leaves Cooldine (RSA winner) who undoubtedly is the classiest runner and if race ready, should show some more of his potential. Aran Concerto ran well enough before fading in the John Durkan and might be worth a small wager at long odds given the stable's rude health.

The other grade 1 contest is the 3m Novice chase. Pandorama is the obvious choice, but will have to be at his best against a decent field. Nintieth Minute (another festival winner) should gain some compensation for his defeat last time in the Hattons Grace in the 3m hurdle. Lie Forrit is an interesting runner here and one wonders if he can make the step up in grade.

The Welsh Grand National at Chepstow is a perennial puzzle with history suggesting a stout hearted, relatively unexposed, staying mud lark is what's required. Coe, plodding around Haydock has indicated he may have some of these qualities and perhaps might fit the bill at a nice price.

good luck.....
