Both French Guineas stayed at home after disappointing runs from visiting challengers. Fantasia failed to sparkle but not a filly to be deserted. Vocalised looked ill at ease on the going and seemed to be bumped early on. However probably not up to this level on quicker going. The winner, Silver Frost looked a nice sort. At Leopardstown Fame and Glory confirmed his Derby credentials with a comfortable win over a below par Mourayan. The former should go off favourite in june but is there to be taken on, while it's back to the drawing board with the latter. It probably also means Sea the Stars will try his luck in the Derby -will he stay??
On saturday at Lingfield, there were 2 competent winners of the trials but neither look up to it at top level. Singor Peltro ran well in the victoria cup and should land one of these by season end. Eyecatcher of weekend was Boston Lodge. Very well backed to a cosy victory, group winner at 2 on different going, there should be more to come.
cheers......
