The Imperial Cup at Sandown is the traditional warm up race for the Festival offering the chance for a lucrative bonus. This year's line up has a curious look with the absence of a runner from the Pipe yard, with the onus now falling on Philip Hobbs who runs the likely favourite, Qaspal. With Cheltenham looming, I have not expended my energies scrutinising the form but thought Aather would improve from his last run and he looks an interesting bet to get the week off to a positive start.
