The final Group 1 of the flat season looks really fascinating and hopefully it's not spoiled by excessive rain. Ballydoyle only run one this week and in Saint Nicholas Abbey, they look to have a potentially nice colt. He looked to have plenty of scope when winning the Beresford comfortably but while undoubtedly big things await he is poor value in a competitive field. Elusive Pimpernel and Al Zir have shown a good level of ability and form and cannot be dismissed. However a recent trend has seen these races won by more experienced 2yos and in a hot race Shakespearean looks to be value @ 16/1. One caveat is that he may find it hard to dominate, but Mark Johnston's are usually hard to pass. Layla's Hero was impressive last time at York and looks hard to beat in Doncaster's other 2yo race.
The Horris Hill at Newbury is normally another good test but this year's race looks very open and best watched. Finally the best bet of the day could be in the St. Simon stakes. Despite a long season High Heeled ran well last week and today, with a cut in the ground and a generous looking weight allowance, she might land herself a nice group race.
best of luck....
