Weekend Notes 24/5/09

A satisfying weekend, advising winners of both curragh classics, although both favourites were relatively straightforward to call. On Saturday, Mastercraftsman was full value for his win and should go on to have a good season. Otherwise, Bushranger had a nice reintroduction and would like to see him in the Golden Jubilee. Desert Creek was very impressive at Haydock, confirming his potential and is another one to follow.

A very pleasant afternoon was spent at a sunblessed Curragh. Again landed the 1,000 benefitting from a typical fine ride from Johnny Murtagh, just getting up from a game Lahaleeb. Oh Goodness Me caught the eye in third while each way fancy, Dance Pass appeared to have been swept off her feet during the quick early pace. Casual Conquest who looked like a fine horse in the paddock won the Tattersalls in good style. He looks like he will develop further and should be competitive in all the big races. Thewayyouare was very disappointing! Alaivan lacked sparkle in the paddock and while running decently was nabbed at finish by Grand Ducal (Murtagh again). He could be worth another chance. The 2yo maiden looked interesting beforehand but not sure if going suited the field except the impressive winner Alaheeb. Not the usual speedy sort one associates with the connections, but definitely worth noting.

cheers....
